Employee spotlight: Jonathan “Johnny” Reimer

At Sovereign Systems, we believe that great software comes from great people. This month, we’re excited to highlight Jonathan “Johnny” Reimer, one of our talented software developers who brings both technical expertise and creative energy to our team.

From IT to Software Development

Johnny’s career with computers started early. At just 16, he landed his first IT role working for his high school during the summer. That opportunity sparked an interest that carried into his career, where he spent years working in IT Administration. Those roles gave him hands-on experience with cloud technologies, server infrastructure, and networking—skills that still serve him well today.

In 2017, while attending technical school part-time for Information Technology, Johnny wrote his first full-stack program for a small startup. What began as a side passion quickly became a career direction. After years of treating development as a hobby, he decided to fully shift from IT administration into software development. Through self-study and persistence, Johnny built the skills to make the leap—and he hasn’t looked back since.

Before joining Sovereign Systems in 2025, Johnny worked at WowLinx, first as an IT Administrator and later as a Full Stack Software Developer. There, he built a wide range of applications that integrated with platforms like AutoTask, Microsoft Azure, and Xero.

Life Outside of Code

Johnny’s creativity extends far beyond software. In his free time, he experiments with game development, 3D modeling, video editing, and digital audio workstations. He’s also a musician, playing piano, keyboard, and synth in a band. When he’s not creating, you’ll often find him weightlifting or staying active.

Why We Value Johnny

“Johnny brings a mix of technical skill, curiosity, and creativity to our team. His ability to dig deep into backend development while also thinking creatively about solutions makes him a valuable contributor to both our projects and our culture at Sovereign Systems.” —Dan Crawford, founder

We’re thrilled to have Johnny on board and can’t wait to see all the ways he continues to grow and innovate with us.
